First Things to do if you were involved in an Accident
If you have been involved in an accident you should take the following steps:
First, make sure everyone is ok and call 911 for police and medical assistance. If there is an injury, make sure to get medical attention even if it isn’t life-threatening.
Once the Police and Medical assistance contain the situation, if your vehicles are movable and you are in a good enough health, try to move the vehicles to the shoulder of the road. This will asure the safety of fellow drivers and the safety of everyone involved in the accident.
Make sure you receive the Police report number as that may greatly help your insurance provider with the claim.
Finally, gather license plate numbers, contact information (don’t forget phone numbers), auto insurance information, and if possible, take photographs of damages at the scene of the accident. It is also important to take photographs of the license plates, contact information, and insurance. This way if an error was made during the exchange a reference will be beneficial.
